Proper design and control of anchorage are critical to a successful orthodontic treatment. The traditional methods for anchorage control are difficult to provide absolute stability, and lack of anchorage is an important factor of restrictions in orthodontic treatment. In recent years, the exploitation and clinical usage of different kinds of implant anchorage systems make the effective control of anchorage, especially in some hard cases. As one of the implanting anchorage family, the skeletal anchorage system also developed a lot. The presented paper was aimed to summarize the experimental and clinical usage of skeletal anchorage system.
