The innate immune system is the first line of defense against invasion of exogenous microbial pathogens. Various cells in he dental pulp participate in the defensive immune response to protect the dental pulp when the dentin-pulp complex encounters extraneous stimulus or injuries. The aim of this study was to review the characteristic and function of the cells including odontoblast, fibroblast, mononuclear macrophage, dendritic cell and natural killer cell, which are involved in innate immunity of dental pulp.
