Streptococcus sobrinus(S.sobrinus)is another important cariogenic microorganism ofMutans streptococci(S.mutans). AlthoughS.sobrinuswas less frequently detected in human oral cavities thanS.mutans, it has been
described as more virulent thanS.mutansdue to its high acidogenicity and acid tolerance. Following the improvement of test facility and the elevation of detection sensibility, the detection rate ofS.sobrinusin human oral has
been rising obviously. The study aboutS.sobrinushas progressed markedly in the last two decades, and we provide a summary of advances on the bionomics, cariogenic character of S.sobrinus and its relationship with anti - caries immunization, in order to provide some reference for further study about etiology of dental caries and anti- caries immunization.
