1H- nuclear magnetic resonance (1H- NMR)based metabonomics and pattern recognition analysis(PRA)as an important component of global systems biology is a new emerging “omic”technology in recent years. The1H- NMR spectra provides a wealth of metabolites information in biofluid, PRA can be used to reduce the large biological information and identified the characteristic metabolite from the complex data. This paper reviews approaches of1H- NMR- based metabonomics commonly application for life sciences. It briefly introduces the technical flat- roof of metabonomic and the application in the fundamental biology, physiology, pathology, nutriology, and clinical diagnosis of disease.
