Periodontitis are inflam m atory and destructive diseases of the com plexity etiopathogenisis, their etiological factors include m icroorganism s, host and environm ental factors and so on. N ow the problem of the etiological factor and etiopathogenesis of periodontitis was not solved com pletely. For the past few years, the dom estic and overseas scholars found there were som e relationship between hum an cytom egalovirus（H CM V） and m any varieties of periodontitis. The review will introduce the relationship between H CM V and periodontitis, the role of H CM V in periodontitis etiopathogenesis.
