Essential oils are odorous, volatile natural compounds extracted from plants, which have functions like antisepticize, dephlogisticate, odynolysis and so on. Essential oils are generally applied in medicine, foodstuff, daily expenses and the like. In this paper, research progress and application on essential oils and their main components were reviewed.
