Estrogen is involved in the process of alveolar bone resorption. The biological actions may carry out through two pathways: 1）direct action through estrogen receptors on cell membrane; 2）indirect action through cytokines’effects. This paper discussed the mechanisms of estrogen involved in the alveolar bone resorption through the two possible ways mentioned before.
