Open bite is a malocclusion deformity caused by several factors. It is one of the most challenging malocclusion in clinics for orthodontists. Implants have been increasingly used in orthodontic practice because of its small size, patient comfort, low cost, and so on. Implants can provide absolutely anchorage for molar upright and intrusion, correcting open bite and improving the profile of patients with the vertical dentoalveolar excess in molar area or excessive eruption of molars. This method is simple, without impaction of adjacent teeth and patient compliance. The aim of this review is to present and discuss the indications and diagnostic methods, clinical applications, adverse effects and stability of correcting open bite with implants.
