Vital teeth often appear sensitive after crown preparation. Clinically, it is common to use dentinal desensitizer relieving the symptoms. While some compositions in desensitizer can affect the bonding between dentin and bonding agent, they can influence the retention of the restoration to some extent. This article summarized the classification mechanisms of the desensitizer, and discussed its application in dental restoration.
