Objective To assess the clinical effect and mechanism of intrusive auxiliary arch in correcting the anterior deep bite in adult patients. Methods Select 16 adult patients with deep bite of anterior teeth, who were treated by the intrusive auxiliary arch and fixed orthodontic appliances. Measure the changes of anterior teeth and posterior teeth through the cephalometric and clinical examination before and after treatment. Deep bite through the cephalometric before and after treatment. Results The anterior teeth were intruded about 2 mm vertically, no significant changes in horizontal direction after treatment; the posterior teeth change little vertically and horizontally; the deep bites of anterior teeth in adult patients were corrected by using the intrusive auxiliary arch. Conclusion The intrusive auxiliary arch can correct the deep bite of anterior teeth in adult patients effectively without patients’compliance.
