The oral health status of oral clefts has become a hot research spot in recent years. The survey shows that patients with oral clefts remain in the high-risk group for dental caries and periodontal disease. Surgical interventions combined anatomical defects, and cleft status was major factors for dental caries and periodontal disease in patients with oral clefts. For the past few years, significant difference was found in oral hygiene among different cleft types and in different countries of the cleft subjects. The studies of the caries prevalence, periodontal disease, influencing factors and oral hygiene of patients with oral clefts were summarized.
