The optical property of all ceramics plays an important role in matching the color and translucency of the natural dentition. The microstructure and chemical composites determine the optical property of dental all ceramics. This review is to discuss the optical characteristics of dental all ceramics, the effects of the microstructure and composites on the translucency and the relationship between the atomic structure, chemical composites of colorants and the color for the esthetic requirement.
