Porcelain laminate veneers play an important role in the esthetic restoration of anterior teeth for its excellent features. At present, tooth preparation is still a concerning aspect for researchers, as it is directly related to the strength, color and contour of the restoration. There is not a common viewpoint accepted, and related studies have different results. This paper reviewed the relevant studies and discussed the amount of tooth preparation, preparation types, related experiments in vitro and clinical studies of porcelain laminate veneers.
