Transport distraction osteogenesis has been an extremely effective surgical technique for reconstructing critical-size skeletal defects of human long bones. It can also be applied efficiently in the reconstruction of extensive defects of craniomaxillofacial bones, which are caused by trauma, tumour resection, osteomyelitis, and bony nonunion and so on. This study reviewed its application in the craniomaxillofacial skeletal reconstruction.
