Intra-articular injection of the temporomandibular joint has a history of over two decades and proves to be one of the most effective methods in the treatment of the temporomandibular joint diseases. However, problems such as short duration of drugs, requirements of repeated injections still exist. In order to improve the efficacy of temporomandibular joint injection, researchers studied from different aspects in recent years. The advancement of these studies was reviewed in this article.
