A fundamental goal in comprehensive orthodontic treatment is the correct angulation of all teeth in three planes of space, and this calls for proper mesiodistal root angulation. Nowadays the main available methods to evaluate mesiodistal root angulation are panoramic radiography and cone beam computed tomography(CBCT). Each one of them has its own benefit and limitation with different efficacy. This article is to review the current situation and progress of these two methods in evaluating mesiodistal root angulation.
