The applications of digital three-dimensional diagnosis and treatment techniques are essential for threedimensional diagnosis and treatment planning, doctor-patient communication, telemedicine, and auxiliary treatment. With the aid of these new diagnostic and treatment information, orthodontists will be capable of ensuring a more accurate, effective, and safe treatment. This article summarized the following several aspects: three-dimensional face imaging, three-dimensional digital dental cast, three-dimensional cephalometrics, three-dimensional reconstruction of cone-beam computed tomography, digital three-dimensional surgical simulation, three-dimensional diagnosis, and evaluation of temporomandibular joint.
