Wedge-shaped defect is a common non-carious disease affecting dental hard tissue caused by brushing, acid, cervical structure, and occlusal force. In the past 20 years, clinical studies on specific disease manifestations were conducted to investigate the effect of occlusal force on wedge-shaped defect formation. In this review, the etiology of wedge-shaped defect caused by occlusal force was described.
