The cleft lip and palate(CLP) is the most common oral and maxillofacial congenital anomaly. Dental anomalies, especially in the maxilla anterior region, are associated with presence of CLP. Since the studies concerning various dental anomalies in patients with CLP lack in China, in this literature review the authors concentrate on the abnormality of the shape, number, size, eruption and root development of anterior permanent teeth in patients with various types of CLP, in order to provide the evidence or reference for dentists to make the treatment plan and to reduce the complexity and difficulty of the treatment..
