In this study, a semi-structured interview was conducted to 172 parents of patients with cleft lip and palate(CLP) in a hospital to obtain information on parents’ needs for psychological care. Results showed that parents paid considerable attention to the psychological health of patients. Furthermore, psychological nurse care was found to be necessary in the treatment of CLP, and it could improve patients and their parents’ satisfaction of the treatment outcomes. Psychological nurse care can also improve the outcomes of the treatment approach for CLP.
