Studies on retentive ability of fiber posts are benefited to improve the success rate of restorations. Because of the variety of influencing factor, the studies on retentive ability of fiber posts are mainly by in vitro experiments. The methodology includes bonding strength tests, fractographic analysis and detection of degree of conversion. Each method has its own features, according to the different purpose, theory or condition. This paper reviewed the methodology for in vitro studies on retentive ability of adhesive fiber posts.
