Objective The study was to investigate the changes of hard tissues of patients with Angle class Ⅱ division 1 malocclusion by Damon-Ⅲ and MBT technique. Methods The sample consisted 20 patients with Angle class Ⅱ division 1 malocclusion by MBT technique and 20 patients with Angle class Ⅱ division 1 malocclusion by Damon-Ⅲ technique. All of them were extracted all the first premolars and without any other anchorage appliances added. The pre- and after-treatment cephalometric films were measured to assess the treatment effect. Results After treatment, the maxilla and mandible in two groups did not change significantly in sagittal direction, but had the trend to increase in vertical. The dental measurement were changed but had a little bit of difference
between two groups. Conclusion Good results could be obtained in patients with Angle class Ⅱ division 1 malocclusion by using Damon-Ⅲ and MBT technique. Anchorage could be controlled successfully in two groups. But
the anterior tooth torque control is dissatisfactory in Damon-Ⅲ technique group.
