Objective To explore the reason for the first orthodontic failure of adult patients with Angle class Ⅱ division 1 malocclusion and to seek a successful method of the second orthodontic treatment.
Methods Authors achieve a good outcome of the second orthodontic treatment for failure of the 8 cases of adult patients with Angle class Ⅱ division 1 malocclusion, with the methods of retreating moved forward molars with face bow and implanting anchorage, controlling molar rout, up righting molar axis and so on.
Results The second orthodontic treatment of 8 cases of adult patients all attained the expected aim.
Conclusion The mainly reason for the first orthodontic failure is the failure to control molar anchorage. The free application to face bow and implanting anchorage can renew the lost molar anchorage.
