The irreversible damage of salivary gland tissue is usually caused by the radiotherapy of head and neck tumor, Sj觟gren syndrome, injury and so on. And the function of salivary gland tissue can′t be rebuilt by clinically used medicine nowadays. The tissue-engineering technology provides a new way for the clinical reconstruction of salivary gland function. And adult stem cells, as one of possible resources of seed cells, have been concerned extensivly recently.
