In virtue of the good biocompatibility and process performance, titanium and titanium alloys are widely used for oral implants, fixed denture, activities denture and restoration of dental defect. However, with the development of medicine and in-depth study, they are required for better performance. As a result, kinds of surface performance modification techniques are needed for surface requirement for different fields. This article means to give a pretty detailed introduction of surface modification techniques and new methods for dental titanium and titanium alloys during these years. It also has a discussion and analysis of advantages and disadvantages in order to provide reference for clinical choice and application of titanium and its alloy materials.
