This paper proposes a method to extract the equivalent circuit model of the diode and a microwave rectifying circuit is designed base on this method. Specifically, a rectifying circuit operating at the microwave frequency of 2.45 GHz is designed, fabricated and tested according to the diode model of HSMS 282C in the component library first. Then, the equivalent model of the diode is optimized on the basis of the measured results. Finally, the rectifying circuit is redesigned with the obtained equivalent model. In addition, a microstrip step impedance low pass filter is adopted, which is used to reduce the effects of the parasitic parameters on the tested results introduced by the welding. It is demonstrated that the measured and the simulated results of the rectifying circuit designed with the proposed method agree well with each other. The conversion efficiency of achieved 73.4% when the input power is 20 dBm and the DC load is 500 Ω
