Hemolytic activity of total saponins from Liparis nervosa was detected by hemolysis and blood cell agglutination test, and the antioxidant activity was evaluated by inhibiting the formation of DPPH radical, hydroxyl radical and superoxide anion radical. The results showed that the total saponins had no hemolysis effect in the range of 012~06 mg/mL, while blood cell agglutination was observed. The scavenging rate to DPPH radical was equivalent to that of BHT, which the IC50 value was 017 mg/mL, and that of hydroxyl radical and superoxide radical were weaker than Vc in the range of 0025~0475 mg/mL.
