Tannerella forsythensis is gram- negative anaerobes that are strongly implicated as the major pathogen in chronic periodontitis, and is a risk factor for attachment loss. Tannerella forsythensis possess many virulence factors. These include S - Layer, BspA, lipoprotein, lipopolysaccharide and many proteases. Tannerella forsythensis have a strong association with the progress of periodontal disease. This is a review about studies in this field.
