The Carrousel oxidation ditch with complex shape was optimized to improve the flow mixture character in an oxidation ditch,and reduce energy consumption.The gas-liquid two-phase flow model with RNGk-εturbulent model was numerically solved to investigate the turbulence characteristics of the oxidation ditch with or without guiding bafflers downstream the surface aerators,and the VOF(volume of fluid) method was applied to track the flow surface.Comparisons of the velocity distributions under the two conditions showed that the installation of guiding bafflers downstream the surface aerators can increase the velocity at the ditch bottom,and the vertical velocity distributions in the oxidation ditch becomes more uniform,which will help to prevent sludge deposit at the bottom of oxidation ditch and have obvious effect on the time prolongation for the liquid-gas mixture.
