In order to determine a suitable shear test method of earthen based masonry along mortar joint, in this paper, the effects of block type, horizontal mortar joint, load position and mortar joint material on the shear resistance of the masonry concrete along the joint are analyzed by double shear test method on 48 different types of earthen based masonry. Based on the analytic hierarchy process, the different shear test methods were comprehensively evaluated, and a suitable method for the masonry of the earthen based masonry was determined. The results show that the shear test method has a significant effect on the shear resistance of the masonry joints along the mortar joints. The shear strength of the specimens containing horizontal mortar joints is generally higher than the shear strength of the 3 brick specimens. The load position has a certain influence on the shear strength of the 6-brick specimen. The shear strength of the half-brick specimen is higher than the shear strength of the whole brick specimen in most cases; The bonding properties of special mortar with the block is preferably. The shear strength of specimens with mortar masonry is 10-65 times that of specimens with mortar masonry. 4 brick specimens show significant advantages in terms of test operability and specimen stress state, and the comprehensive evaluation value is the highest, 0.32. The 4-brick shear test method was adopted as the shear test method of earthen based masonry along mortar joint.
