Wenchuan earthquake in 2008 is affecting soil erosion, and the trend of sediment transport and fluvial processes of rivers in Sichuan, China. Rivers in the earthquake district are damaged seriously by Landslides, debris flows and barrier lakes. Intensive researches are conducted during the disaster relief, recovery and reconstruction after the Wenchuan earthquake disaster in two years. A selective literature review of mechanism and technology studies relative stream corridor restoration including results at State Key Laboratory of Hydraulics and Mountain River Engineering, are summarized in this paper, on topics of serious influences to fluvial processes of rivers in Sichuan; general principles and special principles in stream corridor restoration techniques to secondary disasters of earthquakes; focus on the stability of rivers in the earthquake district; Methodology and practice examples. Further studies are especially required, including strengthen inter-disciplines studies in areas of hydraulic engineering, geo-science, and ecologic and environmental science to explore theory and key techniques of river corridor restoration after the Wenchuan earthquake.
