Considering the fact that the application of high-nickel austenitic cast iron results in higher cost, a low-nickel austenitic cast iron was prepared by replacing part of Ni element with the element of Mn and simultaneously controlling the ratio of the elements of Cu, Cr, Si, and to compare abrasive wear abrasive of nickel austenitic cast iron. The results showed that the matrix of the prepared low-nickel cast iron can be achieved almost entirely austenite and the graphite morphology is similar to high-nickel cast iron. The mechanical properties, composition and structure of nickel cast iron have influence on the abrasive wear properties. The higher hardness and strength of nickel cast iron, the better the wear performance. The wear resistances of low-nickel flake graphite cast irons are close to or higher than the high-nickel cast iron.
