In order to investigate and clarify the characteristics of the shear type friction damper used the aluminum alloy, six tests were conducted in the different loading programs.Additionally,a pseudo-dynamic subsystem test was conducted to check the dynamical behavior of the damper in the earthquake response. The stability of the friction coefficient in the different loading programs was analyzed. The results indicated that the friction coefficient is not influenced by the bolt tension which set in the device, and the hysteresis characteristics are stable. Moreover,a hysteresis model was applied based on the friction coefficient. At last, the pseudo-dynamic subsystem test result showed that the device can absorb energy stably and the hysteresis model can simulate the test result exactly.
