In order to study displacement based seismic design method of near fault ground motions, 30 earthquakes and 132 near fault ground motion records were selected as statistical samples. The elastic displacement response spectra formula of near fault ground motions was proposed from the statistical average elastic displacement response spectra. The response spectra formula can reflect the effect of focal mechanism and ground soil. It can be concluded that the elastic displacement design response spectra of near fault ground motions proposed in the paper is close to the average elastic displacement response spectra of actual earthquake waves, and it can be applied in seismic design of structures subject to near fault ground motions.
