以《弗兰克·莱斯利新闻画报》1866年刊登的几幅有关南方被解放奴隶学校的图片为例,说明视觉报道在美国内战后南方的黑人教育中所起的作用。该画报对南方黑人教育的视觉报道是带有偏见的选择性报道,这些报道为北方的白人提供了一个观察南方黑人教育的窗口,使他们可以通过其权力之眼来监督和控制南方的黑人教育。
