ObjectiveTo evaluate the diagnostic value of cone beam computed tomography(CBCT) and orthpantomography(OPG) for root fracture.MethodsComparing the results of 31 teeth from 30 suspected patients of root fracture examined by CBCT and OPG.ResultsRoot fractures were confirmed in all the 31 teeth by CBCT and subsequent extraction while OPG only detected fractures in 23 teeth.ConclusionCBCT images can more distinctly demonstrate the fracture lines, and surrounding bone loss in three dimensions. And CBCT is superior to OPG in detection of root fractures.
