川陈皮素是从柑橘果皮中提取的一种多甲氧基黄酮类化合物。近年的研究显示:川陈皮素在多种皮肤疾病的治疗中正发挥着作用。川陈皮素可通过减少小鼠皮肤肿瘤数量或剂量依赖性抑制人黑色素A375增殖以抗肿瘤,减少角质形成细胞中前列腺素E2的合成来减轻炎症,抑制NO的生成而起抗氧化作用,抑制白介素4和肿瘤坏死因子α来控制搔抓,以及其独特的促进皮脂腺细胞的皮脂排出作用,这一过程伴随细胞内环磷腺苷水平、蛋白激酶A活化水平、细胞膜内凋亡非依赖性的磷脂酰丝氨酸外翻水平的升高。
