The effects of six chemical modification agents of acetic acid, citric acid, sodium citrate, SDS, sodium chlorite, and HDTMA on the removal rates of low concentration of ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen and COD by zeolite were studied. The results showed that the zeolite modified by 0.05 mol/L of sodium citrate has the largest ammonia nitrogen removal rate, which is 98.14%, the zeolite modified by 0.05 mol/L of HDTMA has the largest nitrate nitrogen removal rate, which is 24.81%; and the zeolite modified by 0.05 mol/L of citric acid has the largest nitrate nitrogen removal rate, which is 42.57%. There is a positive correlation between cation exchange capacity and the removal efficiency of ammonia nitrogen. The effects law of different modification agent on the removal rates of ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen and COD by zeolite was obtained. The removal rates of ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen and COD by sodium citrate modification zeolite are higher than those of raw natural zeolite.
