Thegashold up,liquidcirculationvelocityandvolumetricoxygenmasstransfercoefficientwereinvestigatedbyexperimentsinaninternalcirculationthree-phasebiologicalfluidizedbedreactorwiththreedifferentgasdistributors.Theresultsshowedthat,besidesthegasflowrateQg,thegasholediameterandtheholenumberperunitareaofdistributorarealsoimportantfactorsthataffectgasholdupεginsidethereactor.UnderagivenQg, thedistributorwithsmallerholehelpstoachievehigherεg(asdidthemicroporedistributorinthiswork),buttheover-denselydistributedholesondistributorwillcausethesmallbubblestomergeintolargebubbles,leadingtodecreasedεg(asdidtheceramicdistributorinthiswork).Forthecasesoflowergasflow-rate (QgUcmainlydependsonthegasholdupdifferenceΔεgbetweenriseranddowncomer,whileforthecasesofhighergasflow-rate,both Δεgandflowresistancearedominatingfactors.WhenQgkeepsconstant,thedistributorwhichachievesalargerΔεgleadstoahighercirculationvelocity.ThevolumetricoxygenmasstransfercoefficientKLaincreaseswithincreasingQg,towhichtheincreasedspecificsurfaceareacontributesmostly.UnderagivenQg,thedistributorwhichachievesahighergasholdupresultsinahighermasstransfercoefficientKLa.
