In a batch operated crystallizer,the cooling crystallization kinetics of rifapention was studied. From experimental population density data of rifapention and the method of the size-independent growth rate,the nucleation and growth rate equations of rifapention were determined by direct fitting of population density data got from a series of batch crystallization experiments. It was shown that lower supersaturation,lower magma density and appropriate temperature are three key factors to get rifapention with bigger mean particle size.
