The strain resistance effect of smart concrete under triaxial compression was studied, and compared with the result measured under uniaxial compression. The results showed that during elastic stage of deformation, the axial resistance decreases with the increase of axial load, while it increases with the increase of confining pressure. The axial strain is the direct and fundamental cause for the change of axial resistance.Comparing with uniaxial compression, the change of axial resistance also has three stages under triaxial compression: reversible induction stage, balance stage and rapid increase stage, but the reversible induction stage and balance stage are relatively long. The gauge factor of smart concrete under triaxial compression decreases, but owns better linearity.
