Pressure runaway analysis of rock salt storage is very important to the operation safety control under extreme conditions.Based on the one-dimensional steady flow theory, the intra-cavity pressure time-varying models were deduced by introducing time variable without the pipeline induced fiction and with fiction in both cases. The analytical solutions of pressure change under the out-of-control blowout condition were obtained using the variable separation method. The calculations were then compared to the experimental data. The results showed that the time travel curve of pressure drop submits an exponential distribution, and the attenuation coefficient is the function of the pipe length, diameter, fiction coefficient, as well as the cavern capacity and the initial state parameters of intra-cavity gas. Further study of the stability of rock salt storage may be based on the above theoretical conclusions.
