博杜安的整体史观念

博杜安是法国文艺复兴时期第一位人文主义历史理论家,他对历史方法的探讨开始了法国人文主义者重新界定历史的企图。他的“整体史”观念是要通过融合法学研究、制度史研究和社会研究,扩大历史研究领域。因此,博杜安的整体史观念是西方史学迈向近代的关键点。

①语文学(philology)是指从文献角度对一种语言的性质和发展进行研究的学科。它包括对一种语言文献的语用学、语源学和语义学研究,与瓦拉使用的修辞学(rhetoric)这个字的意思相同。德国著名古典学者弗里德里希.A.沃尔夫(1759-1829年)认为,古典语言学指的是“在古代表现出来的一切关于人类性质的知识”,语文学是一切古代文化的总和。参阅汤普森:《历史著作史》下卷第162页,商务印书馆,北京,1992年。
